Building Our Ryan Home: Week 1
Week one is officially underway!
At our pre-construction meeting last week our Project Manager (PM) told us they were still waiting on some permits. They wanted to start digging on Monday, but didn't know if they would have everything to move forward. On Friday, we got a call everything was in line and ready to go! We are back on schedule! That means, this week they have been digging, pouring footers and basement walls. Everything will have to set for a little while! We realize we are headed into some tricky weather here in Ohio, and there are so many upcoming holidays. The time line is going to be tricky with a projected closing date in 87 days.
Monday ended up being rainy so we decided not to check on the project until Wednesday. When we got there we were surprised at the progress. We were originally told they planned to dig the basement on Monday, pour footers on Wednesday and pour the walls on Friday. With the rain we expected not to see much more than a BIG hole. However, when we arrived they had the basement dug, footers poured and most of the basement wall forms in place. I got a little excited to see them "ahead" of schedule but quickly realized it is probably because they are trying to create some padding in the timeline. The girls' were all amazed at how much progress had been made but they were quickly concerned because they think the basement looks "too small". I know they will change their mind as they continue to watch the progress over the upcoming weeks.
Our PM called on Friday to let us know the walls were poured and the forms had all been removed. Now it is time to sit and wait!
On Sunday, we went to check out the end of the week progress. Right now it feels like our house will be up so high and our basement (and first floor) will be so small.
