Building Our Ryan Home: Week 8

Week 8 is under way. We had originally planned to write messages, bible verses and prayers on the studs but things moved so quickly that when went back after our pre-drywall meeting all of the drywall was already up. I shared with a friend what we wanted to do and she recommended writing on the subfloor instead. On Wednesday, we had a showing for our current house so we decided to head over and see if we would be able to write on the floors. They had been mudding and it was literally EVERYWHERE. It was all over the floor and on the windows! It is a big mess for them to be cleaning up! We started in the living room since that is where we will be spending most of our time as a family. Then we unleashed the girls to go to their rooms. I had originally suggested they write positive words, a prayer or bible verse they can turn to when they have a hard day. We went around to check on them and each of them did the same thing. They all wrote their name and drew a picture, which coincidentally, is the same as their room them.

We had an open house on Sunday for our current house so we decided to go back and check out the progress. We are still waiting for things to happen on the exterior, although the siding has now been delivered. The inside looked more dusty and WHITE than I remembered from just a few short days ago. We also noticed the ceilings are painted and stamped with the textured pattern. I cannot believe how some drywall, mudding and paint makes it start to feel like home. I am starting to envision where furniture will be going and how I plan to decorate. I may never install curtains in this house because the natural light is AMAZING.
